Job tasks and duties

The Red Cross offers various education programmes in education; ranging from primary education to scientific education. These offerings consist of online teaching materials that teachers can use themselves and guest lectures that can be requested by teachers. The online teaching materials are coordinated nationally. The guest lessons are provided by regional teams, consisting of volunteers trained in education programmes such as First Aid Skills for You, 112 guest lessons, Humanitarian War Law and Hero of Humanity. We would also like to educate youth and adults outside education. That is why we are looking for: Education & education staff.

  • As an Education & Information volunteer, you and other volunteers will provide guest lessons or information activities at schools or projects. You can indicate yourself which activities and/or guest lessons you find interesting to take up and what you would like to develop in.
  • Would you like to go on a field trip?
  • Do you enjoy an open challenging conversation with a group of young people, would you like to transfer knowledge of Humanitarian War Law or would you rather teach first aid skills to kids? We provide good training & tools and you and a colleague represent the fundamentals, knowledge, attitude and skills of our special humanitarian aid organisation.

What do we ask of you?

  • Prepare and deliver at least 4 guest lectures or information activities per year.
  • Following the required training courses before delivering the guest lectures.
  • Communicate the progress of the guest lessons back to the coordinator.
  • You enjoy working with children or young people and enjoy being in front of a group.
  • You can empathise well with the target group aged 8 to 12 and/or 12 to 18.
  • You support the fundamental principles of the Red Cross.

Minimum education level: mbo

Job skills and qualities

  • Representative.
  • Affinity with the target group.
  • Good presentation skills and enjoy being in front of a group.
  • Good interaction with children.
  • Experience in guiding groups is an advantage.
  • EHBO knowledge is an advantage.
  • To be available on weekdays or several half-days.
