Job tasks and duties
In Hamrikheem live elderly people with psychiatric backgrounds. Some have few contacts and receive few visits. For one of our female clients, we are looking for someone to visit especially for her. A buddy with whom she can have a good conversation and who, once she has gained some confidence, could take her out for a walk in the park or just do something small like running an errand. Having a nice cup of coffee or tea is also already very sociable. The goals should not be very high.
If you have some time to spare and would like to be a buddy for this lady, you are welcome to get acquainted. We will first have an intake meeting with her personal assistant, who can then explain a bit about her. And if there is any mutual interest, we can introduce you to her.
It can possibly be during the week or on weekends. You can arrange that with her yourself. Madam is someone of the time, if you agree something with her then she finds it important that you keep this appointment.
Job skills and qualities
- Have patience, respect, social skills and be able to connect easily.
- Can accept that people are a bit different and can sometimes be dismissive if they are not having their day.
- Look at what people can do rather than what people cannot.
- One hour or two of your time every week, possibly once every fortnight.
Extra information
The Hamrikheem is an open setting, residents can go out independently. It is also possible, if people like, to go into town or shopping together with someone. So you can also decide together with the resident what to do that day.
