Job tasks and duties

In Groningen, VluchtelingenWerk organises civic integration lessons and offers civic integration students with the Open Learning Centre (OLC) a meeting place where language and other skills can be worked on in various ways. For this OLC, we are looking for a volunteer coordinator for 12 hours a week (shared function possible). Are you a good host and do you enjoy being the first point of contact for the OLC coaches? In the OLC, modules such as study skills, subject language and exam training can be followed, citizens practise in groups or work independently on assignments and receive support from their OLC coach. There is a reading table, guest speakers and an ICT volunteer to help strengthen digital skills.
The OLC coordinator is in charge of the day-to-day management in the OLC and plays a key role. He/she is the point of contact and manages the OLC coaches. In addition, the OLC coordinator is co-responsible for planning the offerings, purchasing materials and scheduling the OLC coaches. The Open Learning Centre is open for 2 hours every working day around noon.

  • You are host/hostess.
  • You are first point of contact for OLC coaches.
  • Together with teachers and OLC coaches, you compile the offer.
  • You are responsible for purchasing and managing materials.
  • You take care of the scheduling of the OLC coaches.
  • You will assist in the recruitment of new OLC coaches.

Job skills and qualities

  • At ease with different languages and cultures.
  • Good command of the Dutch language.
  • Communicatively strong.
  • Flexible and creative.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • For your volunteer work, you need to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct (free of charge).
