Job tasks and duties
During a disaster or crisis situation, the Red Cross stands ready to help those in need. Such as when taking in refugees, during a pandemic or after a flood. But also if people lack basic living needs, such as food and shelter. In the coming months, our main focus will be on supporting the reception of refugees.
Our volunteer social workers support people during a crisis or emergency situation. They are mainly deployed at emergency locations in the province of Groningen for refugees in the coming months. You, as coordinator, take care of managing and supervising the volunteers. You coordinate the activities and you are the point of contact for the volunteers and for external contacts.
In quiet times, social workers are used less or not at all.
Just then you are the motivator for, among other things, additional training and deepening.
Job skills and qualities
- You know how to enthuse people and get them to cooperate.
- You are flexible, proactive and can empathise with others.
- If the situation calls for it, you can take the lead and bring people along.
- You subscribe to the basic principles and code of conduct of the Red Cross.
- You monitor that volunteer Social Workers move with you during a crisis.
- You feel at home and can move along in a highly innovative organisation.
