Job tasks and duties

At events and calamities, Red Cross volunteers are on standby, as are the volunteers of the Liaison Service. In order to cooperate well and coordinate deployment at events and calamities, the Liaison Service is crucial. The Liaison Service is the support service of the Red Cross that handles communications at the time of disasters, calamities, large and small-scale events.

What will you do?

  • Communications equipment, walkie-talkies and mobilophones, preparing for events 
  • Preparing and networking at major events;
  • Preparing and building up the control room at large events;
  • Assist your fellow volunteers in the use of walkie-talkies and mobile phones;
  • Manage and maintain the liaison equipment;

The Red Cross has its own walkie-talkies and mobile phones for the purpose of communication during relief work. The size of the network can range from two walkie-talkie users to an extensive network with its own control room. 

 

Job skills and qualities

  • You are customer-oriented, quality-oriented and decisive.
  • In addition, you are flexible, take initiative and can work well together.
  • You have knowledge of radio communication.
  • Knowledge of networks and DMR systems is a pré.
  • You are available 4 to 6 hours per week.
