Volunteer Social Care

The Netherlands Red Cross helps people in need, around the corner and far away, from our hearts and with our sleeves rolled up, that is what we stand for. We do this with many volunteers who dedicate themselves every day. Heroes who step forward when things get exciting and who put their shoulders to the wheel when necessary, so that in times of need nobody stands alone. Like for example when  receiving refugees, during a pandemic or after a flood. But also when people lack basic living needs such as food and shelter.

District Groningen is looking for Social Workers (voluntary)

What will you do:

You will support people in an emergency situation. You offer a listening ear, give attention, support and comfort. You will also be there for practical help: for example, you will hand out food and clothes or go with them to a shop. You see what someone needs, such as a walk, a chat or a game. But you also support with facility and logistical jobs, such as setting up an emergency shelter location.

• You have a broad interest and affinity with people in a vulnerable position
• You are sociable and willing to help
• You subscribe to the basic principles and code of conduct of the Red Cross.
• As a volunteer Social Worker, you move with the demand for help. In times of need, we really call on you and you are available for 4 hours a week
• You decide where and when you turn in a deployment, although we hope you will do your utmost to help. Most deployments only last a few days and then it's all hands on deck!
