The WAARD Knowledge Center is looking for someone to share their experiences during citizenship lessons to create connections and combat discrimination. Have you ever experienced discrimination or exclusion, and are you comfortable sharing your experiences in front of a group? Are you sociable and easily connect with others? Do you enjoy asking critical questions from time to time? Then you're the volunteer we're looking for!
The WAARD Knowledge Center is part of Discriminatie.nl Groningen. You can speak up if you're being treated unequally based on factors such as your age, ethnicity, religion, or sexuality. We offer a listening ear and legal support, but to prevent discrimination, we also provide information sessions at schools and organizations. The goal of these sessions is to create connections, debunk prejudices, and thus combat discrimination.
Job tasks and duties
Volunteering at WAARD involves sharing your experiences with one of our counselors at a school or organization. Under the guidance of the counselor, participants will ask you personal questions.
- You'll share your experiences with participants and have valuable conversations with them.
- Diversity becomes visible and open to discussion.
- Participants have the opportunity to challenge and challenge their prejudices.
- This creates special, connected encounters, which can help prevent discrimination in the future.
Job skills and qualities
What do we ask?
- You are sociable and confident: you are comfortable opening up to a group of participants and don't shy away from (respectful) critical questions;
- You want to contribute to an equal society without discrimination;
- You can independently conduct conversations with participants who usually only speak Dutch;
- You are able to travel to the information session location by your own means of transport or public transportation.
What do we offer?
- A safe place to discuss prejudice and discrimination; you will always be accompanied by one of our information officers, and we will ensure (social) safety within the group;
- A diverse network of colleagues, volunteers, and other organizations that also value diversity, equality, and inclusion;
- A compensation of €22.50 per workday and travel expenses if a workshop is held outside your hometown;
- An annual volunteer meeting and the opportunity to learn more about DGI.
