Neighbourhood centre The Floreshuis is located in the Indische buurt/Korrewegwijk neighbourhood in Groningen. The Floreshuis wants to be ‘The house of the neighbourhood’. A place where everyone is welcome and where you can be yourself together. The Floreshuis does not organise activities itself, but encourages, facilitates and supports neighbourhood residents who come up with initiatives and ideas. We provide a platform and support for local residents who organise their own activities. In addition, we are a voluntary organisation and work with as few professionals and as many volunteers from the neighbourhood as possible.
- You work in a professional kitchen. Here, you can develop in the direction you like, as long as it suits our broad target group.
- You will receive support in your development and we will gladly guide people who wish to do so towards paid work in due course.
Job tasks and duties
The Floreshuis is home to a restaurant. Every week, students from the l’Eetudié course at Alfa College provide both lunch and dinner (Monday to Thursday). On Fridays, the team of WijkKoken cooks. This team consists of a number of enthusiastic neighbourhood residents who enjoy cooking for visitors.

We are urgently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work in the kitchen on Fridays!
Job skills and qualities
- You would like to work in the kitchen and are reasonably independent in this.
- You can often work on Fridays from 10:00 to 14:00.
- You can also occasionally work on Friday evenings from 16:30 to 19:30.
- You enjoy learning new things.
- You are hospitable.
- A little bit flexible.
- You enjoy working in a friendly environment in a team of volunteers.
