Job tasks and duties
As a volunteer, you and your fellow volunteers will be the face of the Patient Library for patients and visitors at the UMCG. The Patient Library offers books, newspapers, magazines, and entertainment for patients throughout the hospital from a fixed location. You will create a welcoming and inviting meeting place for patients and visitors. One of the most important tasks is that the volunteers visit patients in the wards daily with a mobile lending cart to provide them with our products. Administrative duties will also be part of your responsibilities.
- You will be the point of contact in the Patient Library.
- Borrowing materials using the mobile lending cart.
- Administrative tasks.
- Maintaining materials.
- Ensuring the presentation of the Patient Library and the mobile lending carts.
- Computer work.

- You identify as an open, enthusiastic, and hospitable person, and you have a presentable appearance.
- You have strong communication skills.
- You enjoy working in a dynamic environment where change can be challenging.
- You are interested in the patient's world.
- You enjoy collaborating with colleagues but can also work independently.
- You have a good command of Dutch.
- You are computer literate.
- You are willing to participate in training and consultations.
- You are willing and able to commit to a long-term commitment.
- You are available for at least one half-day per week (times: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM).
