Job tasks and duties
New@Home is a buddy project for young newcomers between the ages of 12 and 18. Buddies spend time with the young people. They guide them through their school careers and work together to build a life in the Netherlands.
The buddy contact could take place in the city of Groningen and in the young person's place of residence.
As a buddy, you have weekly contact with the young newcomer.
You undertake activities together and thus support the breaking of the young person's social isolation and contribute to integration.
Job skills and qualities
- You are between 18 and 30 years old and you can work independently.
- You have an affinity with the target group, an open attitude towards people from a different culture and you are curious about this culture.
- You are willing to learn and you are open to feedback.
- You have perseverance, but you are also able to indicate your boundaries.
- You are also enterprising, patient and proactive.
Extra information
Are you a student of a social study? Then there is a possibility to do this trajectory as an internship. We offer training in advance and during the trajectory we offer continuous coaching and support.
New@home focuses on young people who come to live in the Netherlands from another country with the intention of settling here. Specifically, these are newcomers between the ages of 12-18 who go to International Transition Classes (ISK) and who have little or no social contact. Buddies are often volunteers or students of social studies, who meet with the young newcomer every week and undertake activities.
