Employee Weekend Activities for Patients

The University Center for Psychiatry (UCP) has several clinical wards where patients with psychiatric problems stay. Some patients also stay at the UCP on weekends.
There are no treatment options for patients on weekends. Furthermore, not all patients receive visitors daily. Therefore, there is a need for an accessible drop-in center with activities focused on leisure activities and socializing.
As a volunteer at the UCP, you offer patients a welcome distraction. You initiate and supervise accessible activities that promote contact, relaxation, and distraction, such as crafts, baking, walks, conversations, and coffee/tea. You always work together with another volunteer.

• You recognize yourself as an open, enthusiastic, and hospitable person, and you have a presentable appearance.
• You have a sense of responsibility and can react calmly and tactfully in difficult situations.
• You are empathetic and enjoy listening.
• You are creative and have strong communication skills.
• Experience working with psychiatric patients is preferred.
• You have a good command of Dutch.
• You are interested in volunteering with us for a longer period.
• You are available at least one Saturday per month from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
• Experience in and an affinity for healthcare is preferred.
