Employee Neighbourhood Restaurant the Buckthorn

The Neighbourhood Restaurant de Duindoorn is an initiative of Wijkbedrijf Selwerd. We are looking for participation workers, who want to help in the kitchen or at the serving counter. These positions also include cleaning duties.

The District Restaurant is located in the newly renovated Dragant student flat. An international, social team works at the District Restaurant, putting healthy and surprising things on the menu together under the guidance of a master chef. There is room for new people in this team. You can learn more about the catering profession and about working in a kitchen at the restaurant, so that you can better progress to paid work.

Duties and learning points in the kitchen:

• Learning technical skills: cooking, cutting, weighing, mixing, stirring, whisking.
• Learn how to work in the kitchen sink.
• Dealing with hygiene and safety in the kitchen.
• Keeping the working environment clean and tidy.

Duties and learning points at the issue desk: 

• Skill in serving and welcoming guests.
• Dealing with hygiene and first-in-first-out working methods.
• Work according to schedule and instruction.
• Dealing with crowds and stress.
• Taking, processing and issuing orders.
• Keeping your work environment clean and tidy.
• Personal care.

We require for both positions a good commitment, willingness to learn, enthusiasm and a basic knowledge of the Dutch language.
