If you think it would be a good and fun experience to work with young people with autism, if you are available once a month on a Saturday evening (plus some extra time for devising/preparing the activity, of course), then we are looking for you! As a facilitator, you will be supported by one or two volunteer coordinators. A professional is also present in the background for questions.
Job tasks and duties
You are expected to accompany the meetings of the Top Club together with other volunteers. The Top Club is a club for young people/young adults with a form of autism. It allows the young people to meet peers in a familiar environment. Supervised by two to four volunteers, they have a fun Saturday evening ten times a year. Because there is a clear programme for the meeting, the contacts succeed well. The aim of the meetings is to provide an enjoyable evening and contacts with peers.
As a counsellor, you therefore work together in a team with other counsellors. There are three Top Clubs in Groningen City and one in Hoogezand. In Hoogezand, a group of three counsellors is active. As two of the three coaching staff will soon have a little less time, they are looking for reinforcements!
Job skills and qualities
We find it most important that you enjoy thinking up new activities, and that you are able to organise and carry these out together with the other supervisors. In addition, it is of course nice if you have an affinity with our target group; adolescents and young adults with autism.
