Interesting about this job
You share the love for your pet with vulnerable people and receive a lot in return! Your animal develops through the weekly visits and the many new experiences it gains in the process.
Job tasks and duties
After a free course, you will visit people (at De Zijlen locations) with mental disabilities, who love pets but cannot take care of their own dog or cat, on a weekly basis. You will work closely with the personal supervisors of these people. Visits last ,on average, one hour a week. The activities can include walking together, having a nice chat, grooming the pet, playing games together with the pet, etc.
Job skills and qualities
- The volunteer forms a close team together with his dog or cat, can 'read' his pet and knows in which circumstances the animal feels at home. He or she enjoys working with this special target group (people with intellectual disabilities).
- You understand that training beforehand is desirable in order to contribute to these activities in a responsible manner.
- You are loyal to the organisation (De Zijlen) and the cliënt can count on the volunteer's weekly contribution with his animal.
