As a DuoFiets volunteer for Mercator, you will offer people, who often hardly ever get outside, a pleasant get-together in the outdoors. This is usually hugely enjoyable for both parties!
Job tasks and duties
The organisation WIJ Lewenborg has an electric DuoFiets, which is loaned out free of charge to residents of Lewenborg and surrounding areas. In Care centre Mercator in Lewenborg, many residents would like to go for a ride when the weather is nice, but there are no volunteers available for this. That is why we are now looking for people who would like to go cycling with these residents at agreed times, in consultation with Mercator's activity guidance team.
The loan of the bike is in the hands of DuoFiets-Lewenborg volunteers, who will also provide instruction and familiarisation. The bike is parked just outside the neighbourhood, five minutes cycling from the care centre. Eventually, the aim is for the DuoFiets driver to independently pick up the DuoFiets from the storage area and return them there after use.
Job skills and qualities
- Affection with elderly people.
- Able to handle an electric bike (physically and technically).
- Be able to manoeuvre safely in traffic with the DuoFiets.
- Preferably available a fixed afternoon per week or 2 weeks for a number of hours.
- Flexibility to adjust appointments if necessary.
- Smooth communication with activity guidance and DuoFiets-Lewenborg.
