Some activities are open to residents in groups or individually, while others are more passive, allowing you to watch and listen. These activities are often led by a dedicated instructor or volunteer.
We strive to keep activities accessible and prices affordable for everyone. Hospitality and service are our top priorities. Daily management is handled by paid professionals and volunteers.
We welcome new suggestions and initiatives from local residents. Of course, everything must fit within the budget provided by the Municipality.
Job tasks and duties
The board of the Sonde2000 / de Tuinwijk Foundation manages two community centers: Sonde 2000 (located in the Vensterschool behind "de Parrel") and TuinPad (located in Bessemoerparkje between Tuinwijk and Paddepoel). A variety of activities take place in both centers. Some are initiated by residents, some by the board. We strive to serve the residents of Selwerd, Paddepoel, and Tuinwijk as effectively as possible.
In addition to expanding with two to three board members and a secretary, the board of Sonde 2000 / de Tuinwijk is also seeking a treasurer.
We meet approximately ten times a year for consultations. In addition, certain positions require additional time (see the job descriptions below). You don't necessarily have to be from one of the participating neighborhoods to join the board, nor do you need to be involved in a specific activity. Interest in and affinity for socio-cultural activities is required.
We would appreciate it if new board members came from various non-traditional groups in our society.
Job skills and qualities
- Has financial and administrative knowledge, experience, and skills.
- Prepares a draft budget annually (after consultation with the Business Manager).
- Submits financial statements to the board and the municipality semi-annually and annually.
- Maintains a financial schedule and a long-term investment plan.
- Approves expenditures entered into the accounting system by the Business Manager and/or administrator weekly.
- Occasionally, together with one or more other board members, approves large expenditures.
- Defines policy within the community centers together with the other board members.
- Is reliable and honest.
