The Volksuniversiteit Groningen Foundation is an institution for adult education in the province of Groningen. Together with and for adults, we make a social contribution to training, education and development work. Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced teachers. Based on the idea that the adult university is an institution by and for everyone, our courses are affordable and no prior education is required. However, students can obtain a certificate upon completion of the course upon request.
The foundation receives no government subsidies and depends largely on income from the activities described above. Furthermore, the foundation has no profit motive.
The Volksuniversiteit Groningen is growing and professionalising. A good governance is important for this. Until now, the annual financial reports have been adopted on the proposal of an audit committee, whose members are part of the Board. The audit committee has no special statutory status, but supports the board to better fulfill its own financial responsibility.
The board has decided that with effect from 2024 the audit committee will consist of independent members.
Job tasks and duties
- Auditing the financial statements of the foundation.
- Assessing the financial policy pursued.
Minimum education level: hbo/wo
Job skills and qualities
- Relevant education and experience at least at HBO level.
- Have affinity with folk university work.
