Hockeyclub Groningen was founded in 1926 and, with more than 1250 members, is one of the larger hockey clubs in the Northern Netherlands. We are a club with a friendly atmosphere and an open character. We find it important that everyone involved in the club (members, young and old, volunteers, parents) feels welcome. The canteen is a place where everyone comes together and where people like to have a chat. This makes it easy to get to know new people and you also contribute to the local community.
Job tasks and duties
- Pouring and settling coffee/tea and other refreshments
- Prepairing lemonade for the teams.
- Tidying and cleaning the canteen.
- Kitchen duties, such as making sandwiches, fries and lunches for the first teams.
In time, the work can be extended by agreement (for example, instructing parents during bar services and opening and closing the club/canteen).
Job skills and qualities
For this position, it is important that you are customer-friendly and enjoy meeting new people. It is also important that you are flexible and able to work independently. Furthermore, you are:
- 25 years or older, retired senior citizens are also welcome to apply.
- Flexibly employable for 8 to 24 hours per week.
- At ease with managing canteen staff is an advantage but not a requirement.
Extra information
As a canteen volunteer, you will work closely with the members of the bar committee. They are direct contacts and can help when needed. The club also has a number of bar heads (members or parents whose children are members). They, like you, are responsible for the running of the canteen.
The work mainly takes place during the hockey season on weekends when games are played. Sometimes there are also activities in the afternoon and evening. It would be great for us if you can be deployed with some flexibility. During school holidays, activities are limited. There is a short winter break (December/January).
