Culture Kiosk De Slak (The Snail) is a culture café on wheels - a place where you can slow down. Where you can enjoy beauty and wonder. Nothing is required, everything is allowed. De Slak meanders through the neighbourhoods of Groningen.
Visitors to the Slak can:
- Meet neighbours and meet new faces.
- Loosen up on the open dance floor.
- Picking up a brush and collaborating on the growing repainting.
- Swap a small art treasure at De Slak's special art cabinet.
- Enjoy free pop-up performances and creative workshops.
- Get tips for performances, concerts, exhibitions and other cultural gems in the city.
- And of course: settle down with a cup of coffee or tea for good conversation.
Cultuurkiosk De Slak is an intiative of VRIJDAG in de Buurt, the neighbourhood programme of arts centre VRIJDAG. With a team of nine culture coaches, we promote art and culture in 12 districts and villages of Groningen and in AZCs and reception centres for Ukrainians.

Job tasks and duties
Be a volunteer at Culture Kiosk The Snail! 🐌
At FRIDAY in the Neighbourhood we are looking for:
Enthusiastic volunteers Culture Kiosk.
Get on board The Snail, our electric tuktuk full of art and culture, and head into the neighbourhood together with our regular host. You will bring meeting, creativity and a moment of peace to the neighbourhood - on squares, in parks or on street corners.
What will you do?
- Serve coffee and tea with a smile. ☕
- Help at pop-up workshops and street performances.
- In conversation with local residents.
- Distribute flyers and share cultural tips.
- Do you have an artistic background yourself? All the better! You might soon be giving your own mini-concert or creative workshop on the street. 🎶🎨
Minimum education level: lbo/mavo/vmbo
Job skills and qualities
Who are we looking for?
- You have an affinity with arts and culture.
- You are sociable and enjoy talking to people.
- You are available for at least two half-days a month.
