Walking the dog together

Ms wife does not get out much due to her muscle disease. She has a small network and needs more social contact. Once every two or three weeks is enough. She is figuring out how to start enjoying things again. She wants to get out more, using her electric wheelchair. She would love to get in touch with a dog lover. Then she would like to walk the dog together. She herself now often goes in the evening when it is quiet, because the dog is still young (2 years old) and reacts to everything. Together with a volunteer, she hopes to go out with the dog occasionally during the day.

She prefers to be paired with a female buddy, someone who also understands when she sometimes lacks energy because of her illness.

Are you also fond of dogs and would like to go out with this lady and her dog twice a month.

• Walking together with the dog(s): Enjoy beautiful walks in nature or the neighbourhood, while chatting socially.
• Providing companionship: Have a cup of coffee, a good conversation or do an activity together that appeals to both of you.
• Dog activities: Perhaps a visit to a dog playground, a training session or just playing with the dog(s).
• Flexible and personal: In consultation, you decide together what you will undertake to suit your interests and the dogs' needs.

• You love dogs and have an affinity for caring for and handling animals.

• You are sociable, patient and respect other people's wishes and boundaries.

• You are at least 18 years old, preferably female and live in the Paddepoel area.

• You are willing to bond for a longer period (at least 6 months).

• Experience with dogs is a plus, but enthusiasm is the most important thing!
