Interesting about this job
Do you have board experience and would you like to use your talents? The Speelotheek+ in Selwerd is looking for a chairman who, together with the other board members, wants to give direction to the future of the Speelotheek+ in Selwerd.
At the Speelotheek+ in Selwerd, parents with children aged 0 to 6 from the Selwerd, Paddepoel and Tuinwijk districts can borrow durable and educational toys free of charge. The Speelotheek+ is also a meeting place for parents and a place where they can get information about support and activities in the neighbourhood.
The Speelotheek+ started in December 2024 under the flag of WIJ Groningen and should continue as an independent foundation at the end of 2025. We are therefore looking for a board, consisting of a chairman, treasurer and secretary.
Job tasks and duties
As president, you will be a member of the board of the Play Library+
- You provide leadership and coordination; you coordinate activities within the foundation.
- You represent the board internally and the foundation externally.
- You monitor the vision, policy and objective of the foundation.
- You lead board meetings and are responsible for good decision-making.
- You inspire the other board members and are aware of new developments.
There are four board meetings per year. There are also events in which the chairman is also involved. Because of this, the commitment varies, but it is on average 5 hours per month.
The chairman of the Speelotheek+ is the spider in the web rather than the boss of the foundation. You think along about what the Speelotheek+ can do for the neighbourhood. You will be in contact with partners in the neighbourhood and municipality, learning from each other as well as transferring your own knowledge.
Job skills and qualities
- You enjoy dealing with people.
- You are proactive, sociable and can work well together.
- You can inspire and delegate.
- You mediate where necessary.
- You have a command of the Dutch language.
Extra information
In Selwerd, Paddepoel and Tuinwijk, many children grow up in poverty. The children in these neighbourhoods are relatively often not ready for school when they enter primary school. There is also loneliness in single-parent families. Parents do not always know where to find help and get in touch with other people. The toy library+ provides an accessible meeting place, offering toys that promote children's broad development. Here, parents, volunteers and a professional can come into contact with each other. This makes it easy to share knowledge and enables referrals to, for example, VVE, generally accessible childcare or WIJ Groningen. Then email your motivation to vct@wij.groningen.nl. For questions about the vacancy, please contact Annemieke Broer on 06 21337194. Applying for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is part of the procedure.
