Treasurer Speelotheek+

WIJ Groningen • job opening nr. 14385

Interesting about this job

Are you good with financial figures and would you like to use your talents? The Speelotheek+ in Selwerd is looking for a treasurer who, together with the other board members, would like to give direction to the future of the Speelotheek+ in Selwerd.
At the Speelotheek+ in Selwerd, parents with children aged 0 to 6 from the Selwerd, Paddepoel and Tuinwijk neighbourhoods can borrow durable and educational toys free of charge. The Speelotheek+ is also a meeting place for parents and a place where they can get information about support and activities in the neighbourhood.

The Speelotheek+ started in December 2024 under the banner of WIJ Groningen and should continue as an independent foundation by the end of 2025. Therefore, we are looking for a board, consisting of a chairman, treasurer and secretary.

Job tasks and duties

The treasurer looks after the pennies and seeks financial resources. You think about what the Speelotheek+ can mean for the neighbourhood and translate policy into money. You will be in contact with partners in the district and municipality, learning from each other and transferring your own knowledge.

  • You will make and receive payments and keep the records thereof.
  • You will prepare the annual financial report (balance sheet, statement of income and expenditure) and explain it to the auditor.
  • You prepare and manage the annual budget.
  • You maintain the financial records.
  • You approve detailed, one-off project budgets.
  • You raise financial resources: grants, funds, donors, sponsors.
  • You arrange appropriate insurance.

The treasurer may delegate certain tasks to other board members or volunteers, but remains personally responsible.
There are four board meetings a year. Proportionally, the treasurer has many annual tasks, as a result the commitment varies from month to month. The beginning of the calendar year is the busiest because of preparing the annual financial report and applying for grants. The average commitment is five hours per month.

Job skills and qualities

As treasurer, you enjoy dealing with numbers and feel connected to the foundation.

  • You are proactive, accurate, sociable and can work well together.
  • You can work well with Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • You have a command of the Dutch language.

Extra information

In Selwerd, Paddepoel and Tuinwijk, many children grow up in poverty. The children in these neighbourhoods are relatively often not ready for school when they enter primary school. There is also loneliness in single-parent families. Parents do not always know where to find help and get in touch with other people. The Speelotheek+ provides an accessible meeting place, offering toys that promote children's broad development. Here, parents, volunteers and a professional can come into contact with each other. This makes it easy to share knowledge and enables referrals to, for example, VVE, generally accessible childcare or WIJ Groningen. Then email your motivation to vct@wij.groningen.nl. For questions about the vacancy, please contact Annemieke Broer on 06 21337194. Applying for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is part of the procedure.
