Do you enjoy taking care of people who are temporarily unable to rely on their caregiver?
Then you can be of significance at De Opstap! A homely and cosy guesthouse in Groningen for 5 guests.
If there is (physical) care, the guest will provide home care, so you do not have to perform nursing or care tasks.
De Opstap receives guests who:
- Temporarily not being able to rely on a caregiver, such as a partner or family member because they need a breather or want to get away fo a while.
- Want to go home after an operation but cannot (sufficiently) rely on their partner, family, neighbours or for other reasons.
Job tasks and duties
Together with other volunteers, you will make guests feel welcome and at home in De Opstap.
- Listening ear.
- Talking.
- Cooking meals or just cooking together with a guest.
- Play games together or go shopping.
- Taking care of a tidy and clean house. In short, basically everything you do at home. Only now you do it for someone else, and really.... you get so much in return!
Job skills and qualities
You don't need a degree, but you do need:
- Be able to treat people well and respectfully; both guests and fellow volunteers
- Creating a good atmosphere in the house (for the guest and yourself)
- Hospitable and an open attitude
Extra information
The Opstap is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
You can schedule yourself, at least a half-day shift per week (more is allowed, of course).
A shift usually lasts 4 to 5 hours.
