The Toentje Foundation offers a sustainable platform to alleviate poverty through food production, education, innovation and health promotion.
Toentje is a social enterprise that has been operating in the Oosterpark district of Groningen since 2013. Toentje manages a large vegetable, fruit and herb garden, between the Struisvogelstraat and the Oliemuldersweg. The proceeds go to the Stadse Voedselbank. Toentje is also the driving force behind the neighbourhood restaurant Bie de Buuf on the Paradijsvogelstraat, where a three-course menu is prepared every Friday evening using fresh local seasonal products.
The Toentje Foundation is a volunteer organisation. You meet people you might not meet in your own neighbourhood. There is a lot going on, always something to do. Whether in the garden or in/around Bie de Buuf. It is a social and warm team.
Job tasks and duties
We regularly have jobs that we don't get around to because of our busy work in the gardens and in the restaurant. Professional painting needs to be done, technical malfunctions need to be fixed. A rack for a sink (outside) needs to be made, etc. etc.
Minimum education level: lbo/mavo/vmbo
Job skills and qualities
- Insight and experience in the field of DIY.
- Patient.
- Good communication skills.
Extra information
Chores can be done in project form.
A Participation job requires a minimum of 16 hours.
