Foundation Multicultural Women's Centre Jasmijn provides a place in Groningen where women feel welcome and accepted as they are. In a safe, respectful environment, women are encouraged to use their talents and grow. By encouraging participation, learning and self-development, Jasmijn supports women to find their own way and make self-confident choices that contribute to their independence and personal development.

With 9 paid staff, around 85 volunteers and an average of 400 women per week, Jasmijn organises:

Among other things
  • More than 50 courses and workshops per year.
  • Projects around language, participation and employment.
  • Health promotion and information activities.
  • Activities at our location on Floresstraat as well as in the neighbourhoods.

Job tasks and duties

Your role as chair:
As chair, you will give direction to the board of Jasmine. You lead the board meetings (6 to 8 times a year) and work together with the other board members and the director to achieve our mission. You monitor the progress of strategic goals, and, together with the director, represent Jasmijn towards external partners, such as grant makers and collaborative organisations.

Minimum education level: hbo/wo

Job skills and qualities

Do you have strategic vision, a critical eye and a warm heart for emancipation and participation? Then we cordially invite you to respond!
You will bring:

  • Experience in coordinating processes and directing tasks within a board or organisation.
  • A clear vision of inclusiveness and empowerment.
  • Decision-making skills and a results-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of the social domain in Groningen (or can quickly master it).
  • Affection with activation and participation of women.
  • Average 5 to 10 hours per month of time and commitment to further develop our organisation and put it well on the map.
