The Floreshuis Community Center is "the community center" located in the Korrewegwijk/Indische Buurt district of Groningen. It's a place where everyone is welcome, where people can be themselves, and where people can connect. We want to be meaningful for anyone with an initiative, an idea, or the desire to improve their neighborhood. Above all, we want to offer an alternative "home" to everyone in the neighborhood.
As a volunteer organization, the Floreshuis doesn't organize activities itself, but encourages, facilitates, and supports residents who come up with initiatives and ideas. We work with as few paid staff as possible and as many volunteers from the neighborhood as possible. Because when people from the neighborhood participate, it contributes to increasing their sense of purpose and self-esteem. The Floreshuis stands for:

Job tasks and duties
Due to the upcoming departure of a board member, we are looking for a new board member. If you'd like to take on a community role, this is for you. The board is a remote board. This means it generally meets once a month, and the daily operations of the Floreshuis are managed by the location manager and staff. The board currently consists of seven people. Topics discussed in board meetings include: human resources, finances, collaboration with the municipality and other parties, and building maintenance.
The board meets every second Thursday of the month. These begin at 6:00 PM with a communal meal. The time commitment is approximately four hours per month. Occasionally, board members are asked to attend other meetings or to contribute ideas outside of the meeting – always in consultation.
The board consists of a group of people who care about the neighborhood and its residents. We all contribute in our own way and are proud to be part of the most beautiful community center in Groningen.
Minimum education level: hbo/wo
Job skills and qualities
The candidates we're looking for doesn't need to have any experience as a board member. However, if you do, we're certainly interested and would love to have a conversation with you. Experience in the legal field is also very welcome. But above all, we're looking for people who are committed to serving on the board.
