Job tasks and duties
De Wasplaats is a daycare center for people (participants) with mental health issues. Participants contribute within their own capabilities and enjoy a meaningful day at the center. Laundry is collected, washed, dried, ironed if necessary, and returned.
De Wasplaats provides laundry services for various shelters for the homeless in Groningen. It offers all homeless people in Groningen the opportunity to have their clothes washed and take a shower.
De Wasplaats also does laundry for various other clients, such as sports clubs and the municipal cleaning service.
As a volunteer:
- You will help with washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes and bedding, and
- If possible, you will do minor repairs, possibly using a sewing machine.
Job skills and qualities
You enjoy doing laundry, are organized and neat, and can maintain an overview. You're a sociable person and enjoy interacting with people.
Extra information
De Wasplaats is moving to a new location on Paterswoldseweg in January 2026.
You don't need any training to volunteer. If you're sociable and enthusiastic and willing to roll up your sleeves, you're more than welcome!
