Buddy wanted for 2 children aged 5 and 7

You are not just a buddy. You are there for exclusive attention for the child and/or to relieve the family. Every week, you will visit the child for half a day to do fun activities with them. This gives parents some time for themselves to recharge. A child can also be completely himself with you and has all the attention for himself and does not have to share it with siblings. In our experience, your presence alone means a lot to the child!

The project is all about offering personal attention and undertaking fun activities, which can make a big difference to the children. One volunteer says: "What is natural for me can be very special for another. It gives me a great feeling to see that my buddy is enjoying himself so much and can really be a child for a while."

Would you like to mean something to a child, but find it difficult to combine volunteering with study or work? Then think about becoming a buddy together with your friend, girlfriend, flatmate, sister, neighbour, aunt or anyone else. A lot is possible!

As a volunteer buddy, you will be part of an enthusiastic group of volunteers. You will attend a training course and meet regularly during volunteer meetings and activities we organise for couples.

It is important that you are open to new experiences, have an affinity for children, are patient and can move with what is needed. We provide a suitable match, you have all the space you need to flesh out the buddy contact yourself in consultation with the child and parent(s).

We ask for an availability of at least six months. We ask this because it takes time to build a trusting relationship with a child and almost all children need long-term buddy contact.
