Volunteer driver St. Buurttaxi Selwerd & Paddepoel

This is a volunteer position.

Buurttaxi Selwerd & Paddepoel is a project originating from the Wijkbedrijf Selwerd neighbourhood company, in cooperation with the municipality of Groningen.

The Neighbourhood Taxi is committed to providing accessible transport for senior citizens and those in need of assistance in the Selwerd and Paddepoel districts. By doing so, we hope to encourage people who are currently somewhat limited in their mobility to get out more often and maintain their social contacts. This is important for this target group (self-reliance) and via public transport sometimes somewhat difficult.
The neighbourhood taxi is intended for trips of sometimes a few hundred metres to about two kilometres. The electric taxi has room for a maximum of two passengers, and the folded rollator can also be taken along.

• You are reliable, patient and have pleasant social skills.
• You get on well with elderly people.
• You are able to lift rollators in and out of the taxi and sometimes help with (heavy) bags.
• You have some empathy for the limitations and abilities of elderly people.
• You are flexible in terms of working hours, of course this is always by mutual agreement.
• The starting point is that it remains fun for everyone, both client and volunteer.
• Experience working as a driver is an advantage, but not a requirement.
• You are available at least 4 - 8 hours per week.
• You speak good Dutch and are in possession of driving licence B.
