A lot more happens behind the scenes at the Hortus than just garden maintenance. The walls, pavilions and buildings of our Chinese Ming Garden, the only one in Europe, require attention, maintenance and development. Would you like to contribute to the preservation of this special place, with a special focus on the Chinese Tea House?

Job tasks and duties

What to think about:

  • preservation of the Tea House.
  • restoration of wall windows and other architectural elements.
  • optimisation of kitchen equipment.
  • improving fire safety.
  • coordination of plans and contact maintenance with contractors.
  • exploring (and possibly applying for) monument status.

You are not alone. You work together with the manager, gardener and architect, among others

Job skills and qualities

We are looking for someone who:

  • can maintain an overview and get things moving.
  • pleases to work together and can connect different interests.
  • has experience in real estate, construction, management or project coordination.
  • feels committed to preserving ban a unique and historic environment.
  • You like to take the initiative, but obviously coordinate well with the team.

You will work at one of the most beautiful locations in the north of the Netherlands, become part of a committed team of staff and volunteers and get the opportunity to develop (further).
