Interesting about this job
Would you like to be involved in WIJ Groningen, to further improve our support? And would you like to stand up for the interests of residents in your neighbourhood or village? Then perhaps the WIJ council is something for you.
About WIJ Groningen:
WIJ Groningen is an organisation that provides support to all residents of the municipality of Groningen, from young to old. Our 10 WIJ locations are located in the middle of neighbourhoods and villages, where residents can drop by with an idea, wish, question or problem without an appointment.
Together with over a thousand colleagues, volunteers and interns, we help people in Groningen to strengthen their self-reliance and participate in society. If possible, with help from family and friends and as close as possible. We assume our own abilities and learn from each other every day.
What does the WIJ Council do?
The WIJ council is the advisory council/client council of WIJ Groningen. It is a council for and by residents that thinks and talks about the support of WIJ Groningen from the common interest of the residents.
What the WIJ council does:
- Actively collect signals and experiences from residents
- Advising the director and management of WIJ Groningen
- Think along in projects and policy within WIJ Groningen
What does the WIJ council advise on?
The WIJ council is an important discussion partner for the organisation. With open discussions and advice, residents can thus contribute and improve matters within our organisation. The WIJ Council advises WIJ Groningen on, for example:
- The quality of our support
- How we deal with privacy
- Accessibility and reception, such as our Entrances (dropping by without an appointment)
- How we inform residents
- Change in the organisation's goals
The WIJ council has advisory rights on certain organisational and policy issues. In addition, the council can also give advice on request or raise issues itself.
Composition of the WIJ Council
The WIJ Council has room for 11 members, a chairman and a vice-chairman. The council is supported by an official secretary.
We think a diverse composition is important. We are looking for members with different backgrounds and from different neighbourhoods or villages. Experience in the social domain is welcome, as is experience in supporting WIJ Groningen or a similar organisation.
The WIJ council works with its own regulations and an annual work plan. That work plan contains seven topics. These are Wmo (Social Support Act), Basic youth aid, cooperation building & prevention and projects such as diversity & inclusion and use of AI (artificial intelligence) at our locations where residents drop by without an appointment. Finally, the council also chooses its own topics, such as picking up signals from residents and joining the walk-in for residents.

- Each member takes ownership of one or more topics. You monitor progress and report back to the rest of the council.
