Textile sorting and recycling employee

Textielhub • job opening nr. 14865

Interesting about this job

We have developed the “spiekerboks” from our own recycled jeans fabric, made from 100% cotton. And you can soon contribute to that too. The work is practical, educational and directly contributes to the reuse of textiles and a circular textile chain, because the mountain of clothing waste is increasing. You will receive a volunteer allowance for carrying out the work.

Job tasks and duties

For a circular textile project at Groningen Werkt Circulair we are looking for volunteers who want to work at a small-scale production site in the Textile Hub, where we sort textiles for recycling. You work together with a small team, including volunteers.

You perform the following activities:

  • Sort clothing and other textiles by composition and material.
  • Preparing textiles for further processing/recycling: cutting fabrics, removing buttons, zippers and collars.

Volunteers receive guidance and learn step by step how to recognize and assess textiles. This way you will be trained to become a real textile expert and you will receive a certificate when you have completed the training.

Minimum education level: lbo/mavo/vmbo

Job skills and qualities

We are looking for go-getters who enjoy physical work. You work standing a lot and help sort and process textiles. Affinity with textiles and reuse or experience in a working environment with textiles is an advantage.
