The Simplon Hostel is a hostel with many (inter)national guests: you will therefore meet many different guests. The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed and friendly and the staff get on well with each other. You will have the opportunity to obtain a BHV certificate and the job will give you work experience in the fields of security, service and hospitality.
Job tasks and duties
Are you someone who likes to stay up late with a passion for hospitality? As a night porter at Simplon Hostel, you will ensure a calm, pleasant atmosphere in and around our building. You are the point of contact for our guests during the night and carry out light housekeeping and administrative tasks.
This is a versatile, responsible position that involves working both independently and as part of a team. Besides valuable experience in the field of security, we also offer you the opportunity to follow a BHV training course.

Minimum education level: basisschool
Job skills and qualities
- Collegial in dealing.
- Hospitable and sociable.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team.
- In possession of BHV diploma or willingness to obtain one (this will be provided by the organisation).
- Must be able to work from 00:00 to 08:00 and possibly from 16:00 to 00:00.

- For people on welfare benefits, we are happy to arrange participation jobs. You can find more information on the website of the municipality of Groningen. If you do not meet the conditions for a participation job, you can work with us as a volunteer or perhaps in another project.
- People on unemployment benefit can also (after consultation with UWV) volunteer at WerkPro.
- There is a professional night porter present, so you will not work alone.
- If you are well trained and you can handle it, it is possible to work independently.
