Bike Friend

Groningen is the cycling capital of the Netherlands, but for internationals getting on a bike can still be intimidating. That's why International Welcome Center North (IWCN) organises a Cycling Friend Festival about four times a year! A morning where we help internationals become familiar with cycling. During this morning, we tell the internationals more about Dutch traffic rules, take them on the road during our Rules of the Road workshop and help them with their first meters on the bike.

In addition, during these days we also connect internationals and volunteers for one-to-one cycling lessons. As a volunteer, you will teach someone how to cycle during 4 à 5 lessons. The lessons usually take place once a week at a time that is convenient for both the volunteer and the student. Together you determine the place and time. The organisation is always available for questions and support.
